Roland DG VersaCAMM VS-420 with white and metallic inks Roland DG VersaCAMM VS-420 with white and metallic inks Roland DG has announced it will be making its debut this year at the 2nd Annual European Packaging Summit being held in Berlin, Germany on 14th and 15th January 2013. The company said that it will be showing the new ORIS Flex Pack // Web contract proofing solution from CGS Publishing Technologies on its stand as well as presenting a workshop on how its versatile LEC and VersaCAMM VS Series of printer/cutters can help to transform the packaging prototype, proofing and short-run label markets.

The new ORIS Flex Pack // Web contract proofing solution, which includes a Roland VersaCAMM VS-series wide format printer/cutter, has been exclusively developed by CGS Publishing Technologies as an on-demand alternative to slow and expensive legacy systems for packaging proofing, and was showcased for the first time at the Packaging Innovations show in London in October 2012. The full package includes the ORIS Flex Pack // Web software, the Roland VersaCAMM VS printer/cutter, an ORIS heating unit plus a full range of proofing media and the ability to connect to the Esko Color Engine spot colour database. Roland hopes to demonstrate the true versatility of this solution for the packaging sector by also printing on a range of materials using white and metallic inks.

On the 15th January at 3pm, the company will be presenting its interactive workshop at the Summit. Titled ‘Latest technology innovations that add value to print’ the 40 minute presentation will highlight recent developments in Roland’s broad range of wide format digital printers for the design, packaging, prototyping, label and proofing industries. A key focus will be on how its LEC and VersaCAMM VS Series of printer/cutters can print colour accurate packaging prototypes and proofs directly onto the final stock used in production at a fraction of the time and cost of current systems.

Says Steve Chappell, Business Manager - Packaging, Proofing & Industrial Labelling, Roland DG (UK): “We are very excited to be exhibiting and presenting at the European Packaging Summit this year. Wide format technologies are beginning to play an increasingly important role in the packaging sector as more companies look to move away from time consuming and costly legacy proofing and prototyping systems and towards wide format digital printers that can now offer a highly cost effective, on-demand and colour critical solution. Inkjet is a technology that is going to have a huge impact on the packaging sector over the next few years and Roland is a pioneer in this area with highly versatile machines like our LEC Series and VersaCAMM range.

I’m looking forward to introducing Roland DG and all we have to offer to all those key influencers and decision makers at the Summit.”
