Aimed at semi-professional and serious amateur photographers.

PIXMA PRO-10PIXMA PRO-10Canon has announced the launch of two new A3+ PIXMA photo printers. In a statement it said the new printers were ideal for semi-professional and serious amateur photographers looking to produce professional-quality photos at home or in the studio. The new PIXMA PRO-100 and PIXMA PRO-10 both feature Canon’s EOS design, individual inks and Wi-Fi connectivity.

The PIXMA PRO-100 replaces the PIXMA Pro9000 MkII and boasts an eight-ink dye-based system with print speeds of approx. 90 seconds for an A3+ bordered colour photo, across a wide range of media.

The PIXMA PRO-10 replaces the PIXMA Pro9500 MkII and features a 10-ink pigment-based system with Chroma Optimizer. This model is aimed at semi-professional and serious amateur photographers looking to work with a wide range of media. The PRO-10 boasts print speeds of approx. 3 minutes 35 seconds for A3+ bordered images, whether colour or black and white.

The PIXMA PRO-100’s eight-ink dye-based system features three monochrome inks (black, grey and light grey) to enhance the quality of mono prints and improve print speeds for black and white photos. In addition, Canon’s ChromaLife100+ system is intended to expand colour reproduction and improve photo permanence, for studio-quality photos that last.

The 10-ink pigment system in the PIXMA PRO-10 has been improved since the Pro9500 MkII to feature Canon’s latest LUCIA inks and an updated colour set. The PRO-10 now includes Chroma Optimizer ink inherited from the PIXMA PRO-1. Applied on top of prints, this clear ink expands colour gamut, increases black density and gives uniform glossiness for prints which Canon maintain can be sold or exhibited with confidence.

Both the PIXMA PRO-100 and PRO-10 support media sizes up to A3+ and feature a new manual rear paper-feed path with gradual curve design, allowing Fine Art Media up to 14” wide to be fed into the printer. The new models are also compatible with an extensive range of ICC profiles. In addition, Canon has expanded its range of photo papers to include new Photo Paper Pro Luster (LU-101) for studio and professional photos. It features a smooth texture and consistent look under display lighting, for a truly professional finish.

PIXMA PRO-100PIXMA PRO-100There is new plug-in software from Canon to help to enhance images with a range of photo editing options. The new Print Studio Pro software replaces Easy-Photo Print Pro to provide seamless photo printing from Canon’s Digital Photo Professional, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Photoshop Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop Elements1. A new, simple user interface comes with photo editing applications as well as new features, such as improved layout and customised text options.

Another interesting new feature is Canon’s PRO Mode (printer driver colour profile), again designed to help ensure that the printed colours accurately match those shown on the screen. Additionally, you can install and use ICC profiles for your chosen media.

Both the PIXMA PRO-100 and PRO-10 benefit from a range of connectivity options. Featuring Wi-Fi and Ethernet connection, the printers can be shared across multiple PCs and provide the option to print over a wireless network. For quick composition proofing, you can print photos from compatible tablets or smartphones.
