Based on InfoTrends latest figures, it is expected that by 2019, production colour inkjet print will account for 57 per cent of the total production digital colour page volume by then. In an effort to capitalise on this trend and to help print providers take advantage of inkjet’s growing momentum, Xerox has announced it will launch two new inkjet presses, the Xerox Brenva™ HD Production Inkjet Press and the Xerox Trivor™ 2400 Inkjet Press, at drupa 2016, May 31 – June 10 in Düsseldorf, Germany.

The presses are the first in a new series of inkjet offerings to come from Xerox. Brenva HD will target cut-sheet inkjet market, driven by the Xerox FreeFlow® Print Server, and Trivor 2400 with the Xerox IJ Print Server powered by Fiery® will be aimed at the continuous feed inkjet market. Both have been developed to enable print providers to speed up growth and drive the production of more high-value applications such as direct mail, transactional, books and catalogues.

“We are focused on expanding our inkjet portfolio with more choices and greater capabilities for print providers to grow their businesses,” said Robert Stabler, senior vice president and general manager, Global Graphic Communications Business Group, Xerox. “With the addition of Brenva HD and Trivor 2400, we’re making inkjet more accessible and affordable to a larger number of print providers.”

Zone of Disruption

Xerox-Trivor-2400 Inkjet-Press Xerox-Trivor-2400 Inkjet-Press The ’Zone of Disruption’, a term used by InfoTrends, is a space below the gap between high-end toner and low-end inkjet presses. Xerox is targeting this with the Brenva HD which combines the cost effectiveness of inkjet as well as the flexibility of cut-sheet production to help address the needs of print providers in the light direct mail, transactional and book markets. It incorporates many of the paper-path components of the Xerox iGen®.

Features include:

  • An inline spectrophotometer to assist with calibration and profiling;
  • Object-oriented colour management to distinguish text, graphics and images and optimises the image quality of each accordingly;
  • K-only mode so it will run as a cost effective monochrome press.

For those printers looking for a platform which will allow them to scale up the same machine as business demands increase, Xerox’s answer is the Trivor 2400 Inkjet Press. It is billed as providing high performance and increased speed (551 feet/168 metres per minute in colour; 656 feet/200 metres per minute in monochrome) all in a small footprint.

The Xerox Trivor 2400 Inkjet Press provides printers with a platform built to grow as business demands increase with the same machine scaling up for more speed, volume and solutions. The Trivor 2400 press combines high performance and increased speed (551 feet/168 metres per minute in colour; 656 feet/200 metres per minute in monochrome) in a small footprint. More flexibility is the name here as the press will allow printers to move into shorter-run catalogues, magazines and colour books. Engineered-in automation should ensure reliable image quality including inline density optimisation, clear pixel technology, and missing jet detection and correction.

A new print server developed in partnership with EFI®, the Xerox IJ Print Server powered by Fiery, will handle multiple data streams for various application types. The IJ Print Server will simplify integration, provide comprehensive colour management and integrate seamlessly with customers’ workflows.
